About Me

This may be a tad too long for an About Me page,

but I think it says enough about who I am as a person as a whole.

(There's a TL;DR at the bottom of the page!)

Untitled

Greetings, I'm difta.
My given name is Chae Young (or Chae for short), and I am a Korean American. I immigrated to the states when I was just 7 years old, with a big imagination and even bigger aspirations. And maybe lots of tears. Because I cried a lot.

I wanted to be a lot of things when I was young. Anywhere from opera singer, an ice sculptor, a fox (don't ask), to animal interpreter. "What the heck is an animal interpreter?", you may ask to yourself in a hushed whisper. I'm glad you asked! By animal interpreter, I really meant animal mimicker; as in, I wanted to be the best at imitating animal sounds. (To be honest, I still would like to be.) From there, things only spiraled. For the better? I suppose?

In the 5th grade, my friend introduced me to the wondrous world of anime. I say introduced, but I had  already been aware of anime because I was born and grew up in Korea, by way of Sailor Moon and Dragonball and Digimon and Pokemon. I just didn't know that they were considered anime, nor that anime could be like THIS. You see, my friend introduced me to Inuyasha! In the 5th grade! And I became obsessed. Definitely not appropriate for our age, but who cares right? I just really, really, really wanted to be a character in this wondrous (and bloody) world. Some time later, after I had to move to another state, a different friend with an obsession with Inuyasha suggested we draw our own characters for the show, and send a letter to VIZ media requesting that we be able to voice our characters.

We never did get a letter back. Or our drawings back for that matter. My dreams were dashed. Crushed. Like refrigerator ice; half melted and disappointing. Fortunately, this never deterred me from wanting to become a voice over artist. I just also had (still have) a lot of different hobbies and interests that range anywhere from the performing arts (theater, singing, dancing, etc.) to visual arts (traditional East Asian watercolor, photography) to Magic: The Gathering, video games, and messing with my cat. It's the ADHD, I can't just have ONE thing, I have to do everything.

That being said, here's a tl;dr:
I'm a bisexual Korean American, currently based in NYC. My pronouns are She/Her, I have way too many hobbies, and my cat's name is Dolce. I have a simmering grudge against VIZ media. Oh right, I can mimic some animal noises and I'd like to think I'm pretty good at this acting with my voice thing.
